IPL 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Harry Brook has been forced off social media following his poor run in the IPL 2023 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The 24-year-old has been subject to heavy criticism and trolling from fans.
In the nine matches so far, Brook has scored 187 runs at an average of 20.77 and a strike rate of 114.02. Notably, 100 of these 187 runs came in a single match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.

"I was putting pressure on myself a little bit after the first few games. You go on social media and people are calling you rubbish. You start to doubt yourself a little bit.
"I just went out there with an 'I don't care' mentality tonight and thankfully it came off. There are a lot of Indian fans out there who'll say 'well done' tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up, to be honest," Brook had said following the hundred.
However, he has registered scores of 9, 18, 7, 0 and 0 in his outings after the ton. In the home match against KKR on Thursday, the right-hand batter was dismissed for a four-ball duck.
Now in an interview with ESPNcricinfo, the Yorkshire-born cricketer has revealed that he has gone off social media to avoid the continuous trolling and criticisms from 'keyboard warrior'.
“I’d have liked to have done a little bit better. Obviously I had that one good innings, but I haven’t really done anything else. That has been frustrating, but hopefully I can turn that around in the second half of the competition.
“It’s one of the hardest bits. When you’ve got nothing to do, you’re in the hotel, and you don’t really get out and about as much as at home, you do find yourself on your phone a lot.
"Things pop up, but it’s keyboard warriors at their finest – it’s pointless. I’ve gone off it [social media] for now. Hopefully, that makes a difference," he told ESPNcricinfo.
Brook, who was bought by SRH for a whopping Rs 13.25 crore, is widely considered the next big thing in English cricket. He has played six Test matches so far and scored 809 runs at an average of 80.90 and with four hundreds already to his name.
SRH are left with five more league matches and Brook would definitely aim to justify his price tag and end his debut season on a high.
