Chennai, April 27: Thousands of fans flocked the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday (April 27) as tickets for the upcoming IPL 2023 home matches of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) went on sale in the counter.
CSK led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni sit handsomely on top of the IPL 2023 points table, having won 5 matches in 7 so far. The Yellow Brigade fans have shown overwhelming support to the four-time champions this season at home or away.

There was sea of yellow in matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru earlier this season. And that away support is expected to continue throughout the season as their skipper MS Dhoni could be playing his last season.
The fans are also eager to watch their side in action as they missed cheering for CSK at the Chepauk for three years after the last three seasons were held behind closed doors or in limited venues due to COVID pandemic.
Although few IPL games in 2021 were hosted by the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK did not play at the venue as BCCI wanted to keep the tournament fare by restricting the actual home teams from playing at their respective home venues.
So, fans want to catch a glimpse and cheer for their four-time title winning skipper in the home matches as well. In a video posted by ANI, police finding it hard to manage a huge crowd that can be seen queing up to buy tickets for CSK's matches.
While fans are waiting for their chance to buy tickets, there have been reports of previous matches tickets being sold in black for almost 6 times the original price.
Only 40% of the tickets for IPL games in Chennai are on sale in the counter and the demand is huge. As per a report from Times of India, a Rs 750 ticket was sold in black for up to Rs 5500.
CSK, who will face Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Thursday (April 27), will return for their home fixture against Punjab Kings on double-header Sunday (April 30).
CSK have so far played three matches at home. The Chennai-based side opened their home campaign with a victory over Lucknow Super Giants, but lost to RR in the second match before they bounced back against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Apart from PBKS, Dhoni and Co will still have to play Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and record champions Mumbai Indians at their den in Chennai. If they finish in the top four, they will get one more match at their home venue.
