IPL 2023: 'MS Dhoni must have scored some runs' - Jimmy Neesham on getting '100 tweets' from CSK captain's fan

IPL 2023: New all-rounder Jinny Neesham on Thursday took to Twitter to reveal that he got hundreds of tweets from MS Dhoni fans suggesting that he should have lost the 2019 World Cup semi-final match against India.

India had lost the semi-final match against New Zealand by 18 runs in Manchester. In the match Neesham had scored 12 runs off 18 balls, picked one-wicket for 49 runs in 7.3 overs and grabbed a sensational catch of Dinesh Karthik at backward point.

Dhoni was run out by Martin Guptill on the third ball of the 49th over while trying to steal a double. In what happened to be his last international match, he scored 50 runs off 72 balls.

The 41-year-old is still an active player in the IPL and on Wednesday turned back the clock to score 32 unbeaten runs off 17 balls. His two consecutive sixes almost won Chennai Super Kings (CSK) the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) who walked away with a 3-run after defending 21 runs in the final over.

Neesham has claimed that he woke up to hundreds of tweets from Dhoni fans suggesting how he should have lost the semi-final clash four years ago.

"Woke up to another 100 tweets about how I should’ve lost the World Cup semifinal 4 years ago. MS must’ve scored some runs again," Neesham has tweeted.

The 32-year-old was part of Rajasthan squad in the IPL 2022. However, he remained unsold in the IPL 2023 auction.
