Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana has been fined INR 12 Lakh by IPL for maintaining a slow over rate in their match against Punjab Kings on Monday (May 8).
KKR registered a thrilling victory with final ball heroics from Rinku Singh, and thus kept their playoff hopes alive. But despite the victory, KKR breached IPL's code of conduct for slow over rate, and their captain has paid the price.

"Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata," a statement from IPL read.
Rana was spared with a minimal fine as it was the first breach of the rule by KKR. As a matter of fact, the Knights were permitted only four fielders outside the ring in the final over of the PBKS batting.
KKR captain Nitish Rana played a big part in their win on Monday. The southpaw scored 51 off 38 balls to give them a platform in the run chase. But Andre Russell and Rinku Singh rose and steered them towards a victory at the end.
Rinku proved his worth as a finisher and hit Arshdeep Singh for a boundary in the last ball to snatch victory for the two-time IPL Champions.
