Kolkata, April 6: Kolkata Knight Riders' Mandeep Singh on Thursday (April 6) registered an unwanted record as the batter became the player with most ducks in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
Mandeep achieved that undesirable record when he was dismissed for a golden duck during the IPL 2023 match 9 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Mandeep had already held the record for most ducks in IPL jointly with Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma and RCB's Dinesh Karthik, who have both registered 14 ducks so far in the cash-rich league.
The 31-year-old Indian opener Mandeep, however, became the sole owner of the most ducks in IPL record after he was castled by RCB pacer David Willey in the fourt over of the match.
| Player | Innings | Ducks |
| Mandeep Singh | 97 | 15 |
| Dinesh Karthik | 209 | 14 |
| Rohit Sharma | 223 | 14 |
| Piyush Chawla | 82 | 13 |
| Harbhajan Singh | 90 | 13 |
Mandeep, who scored just two runs in KKR's season opener, has so far scored 1694 runs in 97 innings at an average of 20.91 and a strike rate of 123.02. These two performances may very well see him pushed out of the playing 11 of KKR.
In fact, Willey, who replaced injured Reece Topley in the RCB playing 11 for the match, also ended that over with a double-wicket maiden as Mandeep continued his poor form in IPL despite getting a chance in every season.
Willey first clean bowled opener Venkatesh Iyer off the second delivery of the over for 3, and followed up with another beauty to clean up Mandeep off the third delivery to reduce KKR to 26 for 2 at the end of the fourth over.
This was the second time in IPL history that a bowler has registered a double-wicket maiden. The first double-wicket maiden also involved the same two teams as Mohammed Siraj became the first bowler to achieve the feat against KKR in 2020.
