The Indian Premier League will return to the mecca of Indian cricket as Eden Gardens is set to host the Kolkata Knight Riders matches.
The Eden Gardens is one of the most vibrant stadiums in the world and is known for its passionate supporters. Throughout the years, the stadium has provided memorable moments in cricket history and has been the host stadium for India, Bengal and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Eden Gardens was formed in 1864 and was named after the sisters of Lord Auckland, the then Governor-General of India. In 1871, the first cricket match took place on the ground. It is adjacent to the eastern bank of river Ganges and has an affluent connectivity with the entire city.
The IPL cricket returns to Eden Gardens yet again as home team Kolkata Knight Riders will play at their home ground for the first time since 2019. Last year, the playoff matches took place in the ground but KKR was ousted from the tournament before that.
Eden Gardens will host all of KKR's seven home games this year.
Seating Capacity: 68,000
Ends: High Court End and Pavillion End
Boundary Dimensions: The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is a moderate size stadium and holds about 65 to 67 metres boundary size on the square, while around 69 to 71 metres on the straight side from the crease.

The Eden Gardens is known for its batting-friendly wickets and has been a high-scoring venue in the T20 formats. The small size of the stadium allows batters to score big runs. In the IPL, the pitch is supposed to remain a very competitive one, but in the latter stages, it can provide a lot of assistance to the bowlers, especially spinners.
The weather in the upcoming IPL 2023 will be warm around Kolkata. It will be humid as well as the tournament progresses. The temperature will be around 33°- 37° celsius during the afternoon, but will cool down as the sun sets. Also, expect a breezy thunderstorm during the afternoon as Norwesters are pretty common around this part of the globe during this time of the year.
