IPL 2023: LSG mute 'Mangoes' word and emoji as fans troll Naveen-ul-Haq after team's defeat in Eliminator

IPL 2023: Naveen-ul-Haq picked four wickets for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and dismissed the likes of Rohit Sharma, Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma but Mumbai Indians (MI) won the IPL 2023 Eliminator by 81 runs in Chennai on Wednesday.

The crashing out of LSG from the IPL 2023 gave Virat Kohli fans the perfect opportunity to troll the Afghanistan pacer. The 23-year-old cricketer has been subject to massive online troll and abuse ever since he got into altercations with Virat Kohli.

As Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on LSG in Lucknow on May 1, tempers flared and the two players had a go at each other on more than one occasion. Naveen had walked away and declined KL Rahul's offer to accord truce with Kohli after the match.

Later, after Kohli was dismissed for one against Mumbai Indians in match number 54 of the IPL 2023, Naveen posted an Instagram Story which showed him watching the MI vs RCB clash and enjoying a plate full of mangoes. "Sweet mango's," he captioned the story.

Later as Mumbai approached close to an emphatic win, he posted another story. "Round 2 with these. One of the best mangoes I have ever had," he captioned the image this time.

Naveen also took an apparent dig at RCB and Kohli after they failed to qualify for the playoffs. He posted a story in which a man could be seen laughing uncontrollably.

Now the same stories have come to haunt Naveen and the social media handles of LSG are doing their best to save him from the heavy trolling. LSG have muted words and emojis including 'Mangoes', "Mango', 'Sweet' and 'Aam'. Muting these words will help LSG avoid getting notifications of tweets that include them or see tweets with those words.

Fans have also teased and taunted Naveen with chants of 'Kohli, Kohli'. On Wednesday, he celebrated the wickets by putting two fingers in his ears, symbolically drowning out the noise from the crowd.

Reacting to the Virat Kohli chants, Naveen, who finished his IPL 2023 campaign with 11 wickets in eight matches at an average of 19.89, has said that it pumps him up and motivates him to do well for the team.

"I enjoy it (chanting)," Naveen said in the post-match press conference. "I like that everybody in the ground is chanting his name, or any other player's name. It gives me passion to play well for my team," Naveen said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

"I don't concentrate on the outside noise. I just focus on my own cricket. It's not like if the crowd is chanting or anyone is saying something... it doesn't affect me. As professional sportsmen you have to take it in your stride.

"One day you will not do your best for the team and these fans are going to give it to you. On another day, you'll do a special thing for your team and the same people are going to chant your name," he added.
