'Dhoni can't do that', Sanjay Manjrekar gives his verdict on CSK captain

Chennai Super Kings are playing their first home game in the IPL 2023 season against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday (April 3). The four-time IPL champions will be hoping to make a swift comeback after their opening-day defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans.

The IPL is coming back to the MA Chidambaram stadium after a gap of two years. But Chennai Super Kings are playing at the venue for the first time in 1427 days, close to four years gap. And ahead of the return of CSK to their den, the entire city is buzzing to welcome the team and their captain supremo, MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni

With speculations around Dhoni's future in the IPL, and that it may well be his swansong season, the emotion is palpable and it is all revolving around the former India captain.

And ahead of their match against Gujarat Titans, Sanjay Manjrekar and Aaron Finch have heaped praises on the CSK skipper. While speaking with the broadcasters Star Sports in the pre-match show, both ex-players hailed Dhoni for his unfathomable aura.

Manjrekar, who has always been an avid admirer of Dhoni, said the Chennai captain has the personality of a different class. He says the former India captain doesn't change himself for the fans and his natural body language makes people admire him.

"See how he has just walked out. He just does his own thing and fans just love him. You see when Arijit Singh was performing the other day, every time MS Dhoni was shown on the screen, there was a bigger cheer. He is just a man with that kind of quality," Manjrekar said.

Former Australia player Aaron Finch, who has played against Dhoni in the IPL and international circuit, opened up on Dhoni's ability to treat people the same way irrespective of match conditions.

"He is very important. He doesn't give anything away. He is always the same, and always speaks to everyone the same way irrespective of the situation. Everything he does is with a presence and you can feel that," the former Australian player said.
