PBKS vs GT: Punjab Kings (PBKS) will host Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 18 of the IPL 2023 at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday, April 13. Gujarat are placed fourth in the ten-team points table after winning two of their first three matches.
Punjab have also won two of their first three matches but are placed sixth because of their negative Net Run Rate (NRR). Both the sides will be entering the match on the back of defeats in their respective last matches.
While Gujarat lost their match to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Punjab were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Ahead of Punjab's second home match of the IPL 2023 season, let's have a look at four batters who can score most runs in the match.
Shikhar Dhawan: The Punjab Kings captain is currently unstoppable at the moment. He is the current owner of the Orange Cap with 225 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 149. He is yet to be dismissed in the tournament.
In his last outing, the southpaw scored 99 unbeaten runs off 66 balls. He slammed 12 fours and five sixes during the course of his innings. The team were restricted to 143/9 in 20 overs. In the two innings against GT, Dhawan has scored 97 runs at an average of 97 and a strike rate of 116.86.
Liam Livingstone: The hard-hitting England batter is likely to play his first match of the IPL 2022 season. He was Punjab's second-highest run-scorer in the 2022 season. He scored 437 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.41 and a strike rate of 182.08.
Overall, the 29-year-old has played 206 T20 matches and scored 5022 runs at an average of 28.86 and a strike rate of 146.11. He has two hundreds to his name in the format.
Shubman Gill: The first three matches of the IPL 2023 has seen the right-hander score 116 runs at an average of 38.66 and a strike rate of 145. The IS Bindra Stadium is his home ground and the Gujarat Titans opener will look to score big here.
He has played one IPL match at the venue so far and scored 65 runs off 49 balls. Overall, Gill has scored 2895 runs in 104 T20s at an average of 34.05 and a strike rate of 131.35.
Hardik Pandya: Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya is yet to fire in the IPL 2023. In the two innings he has batted so far, he has scored eight and five runs respectively.
Last year, Hardik had scored 487 runs in 15 matches - fourth highest overall, and highest by a GT batter. His strike rate and average was 131.26 and 44.27 respectively. Eyes will be on him in the match against Punjab on Thursday.
