Mohali, March 31: Punjab Kings (PBKS) will host two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 2 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali in the first game on double-header Saturday (April 1).

Newly named captains will clash as Shikhar Dhawan will lead Punjab Kings, who finished sixth last season, while Nitish Rana makes his IPL captaincy debut for Kolkata Knight Riders, who finished seventh last season.

Dhawan replaces Mayank Agarwal, who has now moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rana, on the other hand, steps in for Shreyas Iyer, who has been ruled out for the initial stages of IPL 2023.

Apart from the captaincy changes, both teams have new head coaches. PBKS have roped in former SRH and KKR coach in Trevor Bayliss, while KKR have brought in Chandrakant Pandit to fill the void left by Brendon McCullum.

This will be the 31st meeting between the two sides in IPL. This will also be the eighth meeting between PBKS and KKR at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali.
