Today is the final league weekend of the ongoing IPL 2023 tournament. The penultimate day of the league phase will see two encounters across the country.

Out of the four teams that are playing today, only one team is out of playoff contention. Delhi Capitals take on Chennai Super Kings, whereas Kolkata Knight Riders lock horns against the Lucknow Super Giants.

IPL 2023 Playoff Scenario Today

This is how the playoffs can shape up in the two matches today.

DC vs CSK (Match 67)

Delhi Capitals will be up against Chennai Super Kings in the first match of the day at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

A decent win ensures CSK's 2nd Spot

A victory for CSK will keep them in 2nd place and may ensure them a top-two finish. CSK will get to 17 points if they win and a decent margin victory may mean they retail that place. Only Lucknow Super Giants can overtake them if they win, and in that case, LSG will have to win by a bigger margin than CSK.

If CSK lose, their playoff hopes will be hanging by a thread. In that case, they will have to rely on at least one of LSG, MI or RCB to lose to ensure their playoff hopes.

KKR vs LSG (Match 68)

Kolkata Knight Riders play their final match of the league season at the Eden Gardens against Lucknow Super Giants.

KKR have a monumental task to ensure qualification

KKR need victory by a massive margin to have any playoff hopes. With their inferior NRR, KKR need a victory of a margin over 102 runs to topple RR, and a margin of 111 runs or more to topple RCB.

Even a win by that massive margin won't guarantee their playoff hopes as they will have to rely on Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore losing for their playoff participation. It is highly improbable, but KKR will at least give it a go and will be aiming to finish the season on a high in front of the Eden crowd.

LSG can have it all, lose it all

It can be all or a potential nothing for Lucknow Super Giants. They are in a similar condition as CSK, but will have the luxury to assess the CSK result before they play.

LSG require a victory which will ensure their playoff participation. LSG can still achieve the 2nd spot in two ways -

• If CSK lose, LSG win
• IF CSK win, but LSG also win with a superior margin of runs or overs to spare.

But on the other hand, a defeat against KKR will mean Lucknow will have to rely on MI and RCB's results in order to qualify.
