Defending champions Gujarat Titans sit on top of the IPL 2023 points table following a 6-wicket win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday (April 4).
On April 3, Chennai Super Kings bounced back from the opening game loss with a 12-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to climb up the table.

Rajasthan Royals opened their campaign in style as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 72 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday (April 2) to take pole position, but drop down to second after GT's win.
Later, in the second match of Sunday's double-header, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated record champions Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to take third spot.
Punjab Kings also secured a win to take the fifth spot following 7-run win (DLS Method) in their campaign opener against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday (April 1).

Like the points table, it's also too early in the tournament for the Orange Cap (most runs) and Purple Cap (most wickets) leaders. Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad currently sits on top of the Orange Cap leaderboard followed by LSG's Kyle Mayers.

Many more players will be involved in the race for the top spots including former orange cap winners Jos Buttler, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to name a few. Also, the likes of Tilka Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, David Miller and more will be in the race.

In the purple cap leaderboard for IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants' Mark Wood sits on top following a 5-wicket haul in his first match. The England pacer is followed by his teammate Ravi Bishnoi and Rajasthan Royals' Yuzvendra Chahal, who won the purple cap in 2022.
