IPL 2023 Purple Cap Winner: The Purple Cap race went down to the wire as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season reached business end with only four teams left in the race for the coveted title.
Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians battled in the high intense playoffs with several players fighting for individual awards in the form of the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap.

The Purple Cap is awarded to the player, who finishes the season as the highest wicket-taker across the season. And this has been a traditional practice since the inception of the IPL in 2008.
Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Shami beat teammates Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan to the Purple Cap award. This is the first time that the Indian pacer has won the award. This also the first time the top three wicket-takers of the season were from the same team.
CSK's Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja as well as MI's Piyush Chawla were all in the race for top wicket-taker's spot in the season, but Shami clinched the award. Here is a look at the top 10 wicket-takers of IPL 2023:
