GT vs CSK, IPL 2023 Qualifier 1: Virender Sehwag reveals GT's 'Trump Card' ahead of CSK clash

Two top teams of this IPL season will be locking horns in the Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 on Tuesday (May 23) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Gujarat Titans will be up against Chennai Super Kings and both teams will be aiming to get a victory and thus confirm their berth for the Final. The loser though will still avail a chance as they face the winner of the Eliminator on Friday at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rashid Khan Gujarat Titans IPL 2023

The Titans will be relying heavily upon their star spinner Rashid Khan on the spin-friendly Chepauk track. Chepauk's dimension and spinner-friendly wicket will play a big part and there will be players who will have an enhanced role in the match.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag reckons the Afghanistan spin sensation will be the trump card for the defending champions, as they take on CSK in front of their home support.

"Rashid Khan is the trump card for Gujarat. If they want wickets, they bring him. And then the way Hardik has used Rashid, it is commendable," Sehwag said while speaking to Star Sports Cricket Live.

"Rashid likes to break partnerships and now he has become the most successful bowler of this season on the basis of his excellent performance," he added.

Rashid Khan has picked up 24 wickets this season and is currently level with his GT teammate Mohammed Shami in the Purple Cap race. His Afghan teammate Noor Ahmad has been another find in this IPL.

The 17-year-old Noor Ahmad has picked up 13 wickets so far in 10 matches for GT, thus the Afghan pair becoming the Titans' go-to weapon in bowling.

But who will be having the upper hand in the all-crucial encounter? Although the concept of home advantage has significantly curbed this season, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh believes CSK may still have the advantage despite stuttering multiple times at home.

"The contest between CSK and GT will be intense as both teams know how to win big games. CSK playing at home is a big advantage, they know the conditions well but somewhere their performance at home hasn't been foolproof this year," Harbhajan said.

"So this makes things interesting but CSK looks a completely different side when it plays in the playoffs. I am really looking forward to this match," he added.
