IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja reveals why MS Dhoni fans are disappointed with him - 'They will just...'

IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja has talked about the fans of MS Dhoni and on a lighter note said that they are disappointed with him because of his batting position. Jadeja has walked ahead of Dhoni in the IPL 2023, with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain himself coming to bat lower down the order.

With anticipation that Dhoni would retire from professional cricket after the IPL 2023, fans have been wishing for Dhoni to bat up the order. However, Dhoni, who is nursing a knee injury, has usually used himself as a pinch hitter this season.

"This is what my job is, I have told them this is what I am supposed to do, don't make me run a lot and it has been working. This is what I need to do, happy to contribute," Dhoni said after his match-winning 9-ball 20-run cameo against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday.

But Jadeja has been at the receiving end of this decision from Dhoni. He said fans are disappointed to see him bat ahead of Dhoni. He also said that Dhoni fans would just wait for him to get out if he batted higher in the batting order.

“When I bat at 7, the crowd is disappointed and chats for Mahi bhai. Imagine if I bat higher; they will just wait for me to get out," Jadeja said after CSK's 27-run win at the Chepauk.

Jadeja, who is the joint third-highest (16) wicket-taker in the match, bowled four overs for just 19 runs and the wicket of Rilee Roussouw. The DC batter top-scored for his team with 35 runs off 37 balls. Jadeja reckoned that being aware of the home conditions helped CSK.

“As a spinner, it feels great if the ball is stopping and turning. Because we practise here, we know what length and what pace to bowl. That is our home advantage,” Jadeja said.

CSK are placed second in the ten-team table and will play their third-last league match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday.
