'I was told to drive an auto', RCB star Mohammed Siraj reveals online trolling

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Mohammed Siraj has opened up on the internet's wrath that he has faced during his career. The India pacer has had a meteoric rise and has established himself as a regular in all formats.

Siraj plays for RCB in the IPL and made a fantastic start against Mumbai Indians in RCB's first match of the IPL 2023. He conceded just 21 runs in his spell and picked up the wicket of Ishan Kishan as the Bangalore side beat Mumbai Indians to kickstart their campaign with a victory.

But Siraj recalls his cricket journey hasn't always been this rosy. During a chat with the RCB podcast, the RCB pacer revealed the amount of internet trolling he received throughout his career.

"It is easy to write abuses. But you don't know anything about his struggle. How can you abuse someone then? Those messages kill your motivation. A guy is getting abused for no reason at all. Why? What's next?," Siraj said while doing the podcast.

The player also revealed he was treated as an India player one day, and the next day he was told to drive an auto. The disparity of emotions from the netizens is quite baffling and the everchanging opinions and words on social media can be a toll on any professional sportsperson.

"One day they call you the future of India, the next day they claim you are nothing and should drive an auto. I don't understand this," Siraj added.

Sportspersons are certain to go through highs and lows, but the fans need to be within a limit when they are criticising. And Siraj also added he has faced many instances where people have doubted his ability. In the end he thanked the fans for the support but urged them to be respectful to the players.

"Thank you for all the support but don't abuse anyone. Ups and downs are part of life. That's all I can say. You are aware of our struggle still you behave like that with us. That doesn't affect us much but as a human all I can ask from you is respect everyone," Siraj concluded.

His focus currently is with RCB in the IPL as they travel to Kolkata to face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the next match on Thursday (April 6). The pacer will have a huge role with the Indian team as well when they play Australia in the WTC Final in June, just after the conclusion of the IPL 2023 season.
