Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a crushing defeat in the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday (April 6) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Chasing the target of 205, the RCB side crumbled and got bundled out for just 123 runs and lost the match by 81 runs. The star-studded batting lineup failed miserably in front of the KKR spinners.

After a fantastic outing against the Mumbai Indians at home, RCB made a stuttering start to their away fixtures this season. The traditional home and away format in IPL has come back after a gap of 4 years, and it was not the best of starts for them on road.
Despite a decent start, RCB batters fell to the spinning trio of Kolkata Knight Riders. Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine picked up 4 and 2 wickets respectively, as well as young debutant Suyash Sharma, who had three scalps on his first IPL outing.
With the 81-run defeat margin, RCB have found themselves on the summit of an unwanted record.
Royal Challengers Bangalore now have the most number of losses with a 50+ run margin in IPL. They have suffered a defeat with the margin 16 times now, overtaking Delhi Capitals who have lost by 50+ runs 15 times so far.
RCB suffered their first 50+ runs margin loss against Kolkata Knight Riders in the very first match of IPL in 2008, and they have suffered their latest against the same opponent.
RCB and DC are the only teams who have double-digit number of instances with the 50+ defeat margin. Rajasthan Royals (9), Punjab Kings (8) and Kolkata Knight Riders (7) follow them in the list.
Among the teams who are playing since the inception of IPL in 2008, Chennai Super Kings have the least number of 50+ runs defeats with just 2.
