'I like Dhoni' - Samantha Ruth Prabhu chooses CSK skipper over Kohli and Rohit

The Indian Premier League is not just the biggest commodity of the Indian cricket system, but also the biggest involvement of the nation except the Indian cricket team matches, or perhaps even tops that.

The IPL, at this time of the year, glues the entire nation in front of their TV set (now Laptop, PC or Mobiles) as the gladiators of cricket collide against each other. The popularity of the tournament reaches all kinds of masses, and has a massive effect on the glamourous film world as well.

IPL Dhoni Samantha

We witness many actors and actresses attend IPL matches to show their support. Many of the Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Juhi Chawla and Preity Zinta are directly involved with IPL as they have stakes in the IPL franchises.

And a plethora of other film stars regularly attend matches to cheer for their Bollywood colleagues. And the most recent star to showcase the love for IPL is Tamil film industry actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

The Glamour queen of the South Film Industry recently opened up about the IPL and admitted she also has a favourite team and a favourite player in IPL.

Among India's current stars, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have a distinguished fanbase, but Samantha is not a fan of either of those. Instead, she is in awe of former India captain MS Dhoni.

"I like Dhoni," she said in an interview with anchor Bhavna Balakrishnan. Samantha was also asked about her favourite IPL team, and she was quick to respond, "Chennai Super Kings".

Being a Tamil by birth and one of the leading actresses of Tamil Film industry, it was more of an obvious choice for the actress, who has already racked up 4 Film Fare South Awards.

MS Dhoni is one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket. The 41-year-old is a devoted character in Chennai, and has captained CSK to 4 IPL titles.
