IPL 2023: Shami, Rashid, Mohit - The Tremendous Trinity of Gujarat Titans

It has been a memorable season for the Gujarat Titans. The defending champions have accomplished a stellar IPL 2023 campaign as they finished as runners-up.

It has been a season of unwavering records in the IPL. New records have been created, we have witnessed sixes galore and have also seen a record number of centuries scored.

IPL 2023 Gujarat Titans

Despite the rapid inclination of T20 cricket towards the batters, we have seen a marked and staggering piece of stat from Gujarat Titans' bowlers. Although the Final didn't go as plan, the season has been an excellent one for the Gujarat Titans bowlers.

The Titans' bowlers have shown enough poise and class throughout the season, and a potent attack has often dismantled the opposition through the course of the tournament. As the IPL 2022 champions embarked on the daunting task of defending their throne, both their batters and bowlers have shown excellence.

Shubman Gill has emerged as a unicorn in batting for GT, whereas players like Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Wriddhiman Saha and others have played their parts. But our focus today is on the Holy Trinity of GT bowling, hence lets have a closer look.

The Holy Trinity of Gujarat Titans bowling in IPL 2023

Amid the stellar performers of Gujarat Titans, the holy trinity are none but Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma. The trio are currently occupying the top three places of Purple Cap list, as the highest wicket-takers in IPL 2023.

This is the first time three bowlers from a single team are on top of the Purple Cap chart, and the number speaks volumes of their performance.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami has been an excellent starter for GT with the ball. The India pacer is currently holding the Purple Cap with 28 wickets. Shami has bowled with a different vigour this season, coupled with his intensity has dismantled opponent batters throughout this season.

Shami has picked up 17 wickets in Powerplay this season, which is the most by a bowler in an IPL season.

Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan has come up with his tricks this season as well. The Afghanistan international has been a wizard for GT this season, picking up 27 wickets thus far and currently sitting 2nd in the Purple Cap table.

Although Rashid has had his low days, often we have seen him roaring back in the same match or in the very next with enhanced venom. We have witnessed him being dismantled, conceding 52 runs and then he has picked up hat-tricks at will.

Rashid has been an excellent batter as well for the Titans, scoring crucial runs, but his bowling has been equally menacing compared to previous years. The 24-year-old has also guided his Afghan counterpart Noor Ahmad, who also finished with 16 wickets to his name.
