IPL 2023: 'Shubman Gill the next big thing!' Former cricketers and fans react on Twitter

Shubman Gill continued his awe-inspiring show in the IPL 2023 with his third century in four innings. His latest century couldn't have come at a better time as the Gujarat Titans batter scored a 49-ball 100 after Mumbai Indians opted to bowl first in Qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shubman Gill also crossed some milestones during the stunning show as he became the third batter after Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler to score 800-plus runs in a season. His innings, probably the best of his all three centuries this season, garnered rave reviews from former cricketers and fans on Twitter as well.

Shubman Gill made light work of Mumbai Indians bowler during the carnage as he took good measure of Mumbai Indians bowlers, including the side's last-match hero Akash Madhwal and veteran spinner Piyush Chawla.

Madhwal, who bowled a magical 5-5 spell in the last game, conceded three sixes in his second over as the young opener shot one of the bouncers for a six over the square leg at 88 metres. One of his sixes also touched the 106m mark. We take a look at few of the Tweets praising the batter.

Shubman Gill ran the show alone as he was the aggressor in the opening 54-run stand with Wriddhiman Saha (18). He remained in charge of the Gujarat Titans' innings after Saha was dismissed by Chawla as he clobbered 10 sixes by the end of the 16th over. He was evntually dismissed at 129 (60) by Madhwal.

Gill also had some luck on his side during the explosive display as he was dropped by Tim David while batting on 30 runs. The batter attempted a lofted drive through the on side but found the Aussie fielder alert at mid-on. David made a diving attempt to catch the ball but couldn't hold on to the catch.

Further help came Shubman's way when he was at 37 when a stumping chance went begging off a Kumar Kartikeya delivery as the bowl hit the pad and slowly rolled down to Ishan Kishan behind the stumps, allowing Gill to get back at the crease.
