Hyderabad, May 18: Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen smashed his maiden Indian Premier League hundred on Thursday (May 18) in IPL 2023 match 65 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Klaasen, who has been in terrific form this season for SRH, scored 104 off 51 balls at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. His knock included 8 fours and 6 sixes, and his shot selection from the coaching manual earned a lot of praise.
Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar led the plaudits for the South African as he labelled Klaasen's knock as a classic display of traditional batting and said the innings was a treat to watch.
"IPL is a mix of creative and traditional batting. Today has been a Klaas-ic display of traditional batting. Klaasen's footwork has been simple and uncomplicated, one of the best I've seen in the recent past. Treat to watch!," tweeted Tendulkar.

With this hundred, Klaasen has so far scored 430 runs in 10 innings at an average of 53.75 and a stunning strike rate of 179.16. He has struck 25 maximums and 30 fours as well as two fifties for a struggling SRH side.
Klaasen played spin with ease and earned praise from his compatriot and IPL legend AB de Villiers, who labelled the hundred as one of the top 5 in IPL history.
In a series of tweets, De Villiers said: "Heinrich Klaassen is a super special player! One of the best players of spin I've ever seen. Unreal knock! What a player. Top 5 best 100's of the IPL, best this season."

Klaasen's knock powered Sunrisers to a challenging total of 186 for 5 against RCB, who need to win this match to stay alive in the playoff race. Another former player S Badrinath also hailed the South African, calling him the best overseas player of IPL 2023.
