IPL 2023: In emotional scenes after the match between CSK and KKR on Sunday, Sunil Gavaskar rushed to MS Dhoni to take an autograph on his shirt as the 41-year-old came out with his players and members of the team to take a lap around the Chepauk and thank the fans.
Just after the presentation ceremony, Dhoni emerged with a knee-cap and a lawn tennis racquet in his hand. He was joined by his teammates, CSK support staff and management. Moments later, he was seen leading a lap of honour around the MA Chidambaram Stadium to thank the CSK fans.

Dhoni had just started to hit tennis balls into the crowd when Gavaskar came running with a pen in his hand and asked for an autograph on his shirt. The talismanic leader was visibly taken aback by the gesture from Gavaskar.
With a broad smile on his face, he obliged and humbly bent down to give an autograph on the left side of the Little Master's shirt. Later, Gavaskar revealed that he borrowed a pen when he got the news that CSK would do a lap of honour.
"Thank you very much, I borrowed a pen. As soon as I heard they were going on a lap, I kept it with me," Gavaskar told Star Sports.
Dhoni and his troop resumed soon after to acknowledge the CSK fans who looked in no mood to leave the stadium despite CSK's six-wicket defeat. The Ranchi-born cricketer was seen tossing some jerseys for the fans as well.
Rahane held a placard in his hands with a message for the spectators. Notably, fans all over India and especially in Chennai, have turned in huge numbers to watch Dhoni play from the stadium.
It has been widely speculated that Dhoni would retire from all forms of cricket after IPL 2023. On Sunday, they could see Dhoni face only three balls, however, their very own 'Thala' made sure they didn't go back home disappointed. The match was also CSK's last home league match.
However, the four-time champions are currently placed second in the IPL points table with 15 points in 13 matches. They still have a good chance of making it to the play-offs stage of the IPL 2023.
The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator are scheduled to be held in Chennai on May 24 and 26 respectively and therefore there is a strong chance of CSK playing one more game at their home venue this season.
