IPL 2023: Sunil Gavaskar Hopes To Get Another Autograph From MS Dhoni After Final

Ahmedabad, May 29: Legendary Sunil Gavaskar has said he will always remain a fan of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and hopes to get another autograph from the Chennai Super Kings skipper after the IPL 2023 Final on Monday (May 29).

MS Dhoni's CSK will face Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday (May 29) - the reserve day as there was no play or toss possible on the originally scheduled date of May 28 due to rain.

The cricket-loving fans will hope there is a full T20 game on the reserve day whe Dhoni will have a chance to lead his team to the record-equalling fifth IPL title.

The sea of yellow will once again descend in the stadium in large number for one last time in this season and millions will be glued to their television screens to watch their beloved 'Thala' MS Dhoni in action in TATA IPL 2023.

Not just cricket fans, cricket legend like Gavaskar will also be waiting for the CSK captain to walk in the middle and lead the Yellow Army from the front. Gavaskar wishes to take another autograph from MSD on his shirt after the TATA IPL 2023 Final.

"I've been a fan of MS Dhoni for all that he's done for Indian Cricket. He's proven his greatness year after year and I will be his fan forever. Hopefully, I'll get another autograph from him after the IPL Final," Gavaskar said on Star Sports Cricket Live.

Earlier in the season, during the league stages Gavakar ran behind Dhoni, who was doing his lap of honor at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and asked the veteran skipper for his autograph on the shirt.

After that moment, Gavaskar revealed that he was not prepared for it and as soon as he got to know about it, he borrowed a pen to get the autograph of Dhoni and thanked the person who gave him the pen.

"I borrowed a pen as soon as I heard they are going to do this thing (taking a lap around the Chepauk). So, I kept it with me. Thank you, so much," Gavaskar had said on Star Sports.

"Who doesn't love him? What he has done for Indian cricket over the years, it's been amazing. For me, the most important thing is the kind of role model he has been. There are so many youngsters in India who look up to him. The way he has handled himself has been absolutely fantastic," the India legend had added.

Meanwhile, former India spinner and the veteran skipper's teammate Harbhajan Singh has hailed Dhoni and CSK for keeping things simple and credited this approach is behind their success.

"Once his team is set, MS Dhoni and the team management doesn't tamper with the Playing 11 no matter who is available on the bench," Harbhajan said on Star Sports Cricket Live ahead of the final.

"A player like Ben Stokes - their most expensive player at auction - had to sit on the bench even after regaining his fitness because the team combination was doing well. Belief in players takes a big team forward and CSK is testimony to the same."
