IPL 2023: Suryakumar Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Bollywood stars react as KL Rahul undergoes thigh surgery

IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul underwent thigh surgery on Tuesday and he informed his fans and well wishers through an Instagram post regarding the same. The 31-year-old was recently ruled out of the IPL 2023 and World Test Championship (WTC) final.

The wicketkeeper-batsman suffered the injury while fielding in the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the LSG at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on May 1. Rahul was seen wincing in pain before being escorted out of the ground.

"Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery - it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly.

"I'm officially on the road to recovery now. I'm determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!" Rahul, who scored 274 runs in nine IPL matches at an averega of 34.25 and a strike rate of 113.22, wrote in his post.

"The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Bollywood star and Rahul's father-in-law Suniel Shetty, Diana Penty and Zakhir Khan among others reacted to the post and wished a speedy recovery for the right-hander.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has replaced Rahul in India's 15-member squad for the WTC final. Batters Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad alongside pacer Mukesh Kumar have been kept on standby.
