IPL 2023: Virat Kohli glued to LSG match, praises GT’s Wriddhiman Saha and Rashid Khan in Instagram story

IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli spent his Sunday closely watching match number 51 of the IPL 2023 between defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The 34-year-old batter, who is currently the fifth highest run-scorer in the season, praised GT star Wriddhiman Saha for his blazing 81-run knock off just 43 deliveries. The 38-year-old cricketer brought up his fifty off just 20 balls and blasted 10 fours and four sixes.

Kohli posted an Instagram story which showed Saha on his TV screen. "What a player," he captioned the story. Moments later, during LSG's 228-run chase, Rashid Khan covered almost 26 metres after running in from deep fine leg to grab a stunning catch of Kyle Mayers.

The sliding catch broke the threatening 88-run opening stand off 48 balls between Mayers and Quinton de Kock. This time Kohli captured the video of the stunner on his TV set and posted it saying, "One of the best catches I've ever seen. Brilliant."

LSG's innings collapsed soon after Rashid's catch as the visitors lost the match by 56 runs. With the win Gujarat have extended their lead at the top with 16 points from 11 matches.

LSG have now gone winless in each of their last three matches. They shared a point in the rain-marred match against CSK and lost their home match against RCB by 18 runs on May 1.

In the match, Kohli had on-field altercations with LSG's Naveen-ul-Haq and their mentor Gautam Gambhir. Kohli and Gambir were fined 100 percent of their match fee for the heated exchange. All the three players came up with cryptic social media posts and comments for each other following ugly episode.
