Royal Challengers Bangalore are taking on Lucknow Super Giants on Monday and it came as a surprise to many RCB fans as Virat Kohli didn't come out at the toss.
Virat Kohli has been leading RCB in the past few matches of this IPL 2023 season. Despite Faf du Plessis being the official captain, Kohli was acting as a stand-in captain as the South African was being used as an Impact Player.

But that changed on Monday as Du Plessis came out at the toss in their match against LSG. It came as a surprise to some RCB fans who were expecting their star Kohli will be leading them again in a crucial tie against Lucknow.
Virat Kohli didn't come out to toss and there is speculation that Faf du Plessis has regained the captaincy from Kohli.
And it is not surprising. Du Plessis is the designated captain and he is supposed to lead them only. In the last couple of matches, the South African probably was carrying some niggle and that's why could only bat.
And to fill the void, Kohli may have had taken over the captaincy on a temporary basis. And it just looks like the minor injury or whatever it was is now sorted and Du Plessis is back with the RCB armband.
Virat Kohli captained RCB in three matches, and did well in those matches. He won the first two matches as captain against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, but suffered a defeat in the last match at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders.
This is a strong possibility that we may see Kohli leading RCB again at any stage of this season. Faf du Plessis, at his age, may be keen to lighten his burden and that may see him being used as an Impact Player to bat again in the coming matches.
And in that case, it will be Virat Kohli who will be leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore again.
