IPL 2023: Yusuf Pathan slams Liam Livingstone for laughing after getting out - 'If I were coach or captain...'

IPL 2023: Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has slammed Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Liam Livingstone for smiling care-freely after being clean bowled by Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer in Dharamsala on Friday.

On the third ball of the fourth seventh over, Livingstone completely missed the line of the ball while trying to go big over mid-wicket as Saini castled the right-hander and Rajasthan Royals were reduced to 50/4.

RR were counting on the experience of Livingstone after losing three wickets in the powerplay, however, the 29-year-old scored 9 off 13 before throwing away his wicket and smiling in a carefree fashion. The same did not go well with Yusuf and Harbhajan Singh who were on air at the moment.

"If we were coach, captain or mentor of Punjab Kings and you laugh after getting out to that sort of a shot then we will never pick you (to play in IPL) again," Yusuf Pathan said as Harbhajan agreed.

The fall of Livingstone's wicket added pressure on hosts Punjab who settled for 187/5 in 20 overs. After losing the match by four wickets, Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan admitted that his team fell 20-30 runs short of the desirable first innings score on the surface.

"I feel that while batting we lost wickets too many and that's why we lost the plot. Jitesh, Sam and Shahrukh gave us a good total but the fielding was bad and the bowling was good. I felt 200-215 was a good score here.

"I feel in all the areas we could have done better. We did not click as a unit. The graph goes up and down and the boys will learn," Dhawan said after the match.

Punjab were knocked out of the IPL 2023 post the defeat. They won six of their 14 league matches and finished eighth in the season.
