A total of 134 players from the shortlisted 332 players were called out for the bidding process with 71 players landing contracts during the IPL Auction 2024, which took place at the Coco-Cola Arena in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19).
While 71 players found new homes or returned to their former teams as 10 teams were locked in intense bidding wars to land the right player, 63 players failed to attract any bids in the auction.

Among the 71 players that were bought during the auction process, some bagged huge money and some were picked up for their reserve prices. Also, some names that did not have any takers in the 2023 mini auction, triggered bidding wars. Here is a look at such players:
1. Daryl Mitchell (New Zealand): Picked up by Rajasthan Royals for the base price of Rs 75 Lakh in the 2022 Mega Auctions, the Kiwi all-rounder had failed to attract any bids in IPL 2023 auction.
But following a good ODI World Cup with bat on the pitches in India, Mitchell, who came with a base price of Rs 1 Crore, triggered a bidding war between three teams - Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings with MS Dhoni's side bagging the Blackcap for Rs 14 Crore.
2. Travis Head (Australia): The ODI World Cup final player of the match, who came in with a base price of Rs 2 Crore and remained unsold in the IPL 2023 auction, was expected to be one of the big attractions heading into the IPL Auction 2024.
The Australian opener, who came in with the same reserve price of Rs 2 Crore, was bagged on the cheap by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 6.80 Crore after intense bidding war with southern rivals Chennai Super Kings.
3. Dilshan Madushanka (Sri Lanka): The Sri Lanka left-arm pacer, who remained unsold at the 2023 mini auction despite coming in with a base price of Rs 50 Lakh, attracted a lot of interest following his display over the year at the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.
Coming in with the exact same base price of Rs 50 Lakh, Madushanka triggered a bidding war between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants with the Mumbai-based side that has Sri Lankan connections landing the left-arm quick for Rs 4.60 Crore.
4. Sherfane Rutherford (West Indies): The West Indies hard-hitting batter, who had spells with Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, had failed to attract bids in the 2023 Auction, when his base price was Rs 1.50 Crore.
The middle-order batter, who can also roll his arm over with some medium pace, was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders for the same base price in 2024 Auction in what looks to be the team's ploy to use him as a backup to his compatriot Andre Russell.
Apart the aforementioned players, Afghanistan pair Mujeeb Rahman and Mohammad Nabi, who failed to attract bids in 2023 with Rs 1 Crore base price each, also found takers in 2024 auction with the former being bought by KKR for base price of Rs 2 Crore and the latter being taken in by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.5 Crore.
Similarly, England all-rounder Tom Curran, who had remained unsold in 2023 with a base price of Rs 75 Lakh, was picked up for the base price of Rs 1.5 Crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2024.
There were many other players also who landed contracts after missing out on one last season, including uncapped Indian players and more overseas stars. Here is a look at the full list:
