Star Sports has launched a new revolutionary way of broadcasting the IPL 2024 to the viewers.
Star Sports has introduced a new mode of IPL commentary through Sign Language and descriptive commentary - a first in Indian cricket. The commencement of Sign Language Feed with Descriptive Commentary marks a new era in sports broadcasting, which ensures inclusivity.

This new way of commentary has been introduced for the auditory-impaired and visually-impaired fans so that they can also enjoy the game. The approach from the broadcasters to reach out to their differently-abled audiences is a noble move and cricket pundits Ambati Rayudu and Brian Lara were excited for the new feature.
Ambati Rayudu highlighted the importance of catering to the audience and was happy for the new innovation of broadcasting.
"We all are very fortunate to have lived through really iconic moments in commentary, especially MS Dhoni's 'World Cup-winning Six' being called by Ravi Shastri. Everybody deserves to enjoy the game to its fullest, and I think it's a great innovation to bring the game in its full beauty to everybody who is not so fortunate to hear. I think it's a great innovation," Rayudu said to Star Sports.
West Indies legend and cricket great Brian Lara also praised the sign language feed, expressing the importance of it for fans who have auditory issues.
"Unfortunately, there are spectators who would not be able to hear. They would be able to see IPL visually, but the ability now to understand what the commentators are saying gives it a lot more action for them, and I think they will enjoy it because I enjoy it. I mean, just knowing that a lot of people will now have the opportunity to be a real part of the game, not just through visuals but with this sign language feed, is really exciting," Lara said.
Many other experts like Steve Smith, Stuart Broad also chipped in with their thoughts on this new way of broadcasting, which is set to reach many specially-abled fans in the coming days.
