Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, owned and operated by the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), will host a few matches during the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League – IPL 2024, starting from Saturday (April 20).
The Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla, has served as home venue to Delhi state teams, the Indian cricket team and since 2008, when IPL started as a home to the Delhi-based franchise Delhi Capitals.

The Delhi Capitals had hosted two of their home matches at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, where they won one and lost one. Now, they will move to their original home – Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The Kotla will host DC’s home matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants over the course of the next few weeks.
Arun Jaitley Stadium will be hosting it’s fourteenth season of the cash-rich league matches, having hosted several matches in IPL, the home games of DC in 13 seasons and as a neutral host during the 2021 season.
Although the venue is known for it’s slow nature of wickets over the years, the wicket has seen a little change since the ODI World Cup last year. Now, we take a look at the Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi information, T20 and IPL records at the venue ahead of IPL 2024:
Known to produce slow and low wickets, the pitches at the Kotla saw a major transformation, after the work done before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The wickets have turned into batters paradise, producing some high-scoring contests.
In the WPL matches earlier this year in March, we saw mixed surfaces with one being very helpful for the batters, while some assisted the bowlers. As opposed to Bengaluru, teams batting first have won in Delhi, but teams chasing also have come very close to the targets.
It’s the Indian summer, so the day will be warm, but the evenings will be a little cool. The temperatures will rise up from 37°C all the way up to 44°C during the month of April in Delhi with the low of 24°C to 27°C.
In May, the temperatures are expected to drop from 40°C to 38°C in the day with the low fluctuating between 25°C to 28°C. Although there is no forecast for rain on the scheduled match days, there is a chance for an odd summer shower in May.
