IPL 2024 Auction: BCCI list seven bowlers with suspected action, former KKR player banned from bowling

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has pinpointed Chetan Sakariya as one of seven cricketers with a suspected bowling action. While the board has not imposed a ban on the young talent, it has nonetheless alerted IPL franchises.

Sakariya's career, although still in its early stages, has already seen him appear in 19 IPL matches and represent India in one ODI and two T20Is.

Chetan Sakariya

The details surrounding the report of his suspect action remain unclear, with officials from the Saurashtra Cricket Association and those close to Sakariya claiming to be unaware of how he came to be included on this list.

The BCCI has clarified that while the 25-year-old has been reported, he is not currently under any form of suspension. Sakariya is recovering from a stress fracture in his back, which led to his release from the Delhi Capitals. But there is optimism in the Saurashtra camp that he may take part in the Ranji Trophy.

Six Others with Suspected Bowling Action

Besides Sakariya, the suspect list includes six other domestic players.

Tanush Kotian (Mumbai), Rohan Kunnummal (Kerala), Chirag Gandhi (Saurashtra), Salman Nizar (Kerala), Saurabh Dubey (Vidarbha), and Arpit Guleria (Himachal Pradesh) are also under scrutiny and may have to modify their action of any restriction imposes on their bowling.

BCCI bans two Karnataka players from Bowling

Manish Pandey and KL Shrijith, who play for Karnataka, have been banned from bowling.

The IPL 2024 auction will be taking place on December 19 in Dubai and the apex body of Indian cricket has informed the franchises so that they can be updated regarding the availability of the players.
