'I can see war..': Ravichandran Ashwin makes bold prediction for released star at IPL 2024 Auction

Ravichandran Ashwin believes released IPL player Shahrukh Khan will fetch a massive amount of money in the upcoming IPL 2024 auction.

Shahrukh Khan was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, which has raised a lot of eyebrows. The hard-hitting batter was bought by the Kings in 2021 and has played 33 matches for them across the last three seasons.

Khan

The Kings paid INR 9 crore for him before the IPL 2022 mega auction, but have now decided to release the player.

But despite his release, India stalwart Ravichandran Ashwin believes there will be no shortage of suitors for Shahrukh in the auction. The IPL 2024 auction is set to take place in Dubai on December 19 and Ashwin already sees a bidding war for the Tamil Nadu player.

"I can definitely see a war between CSK and Gujarat for Shahrukh Khan. Gujarat have let go of Hardik Pandya , Gujarat needs a player who can finish the innings, a sort of power player. and they need a power player. Shahrukh was at Rs 9 crore At Kings, and I though he showed his skills pretty well. Is it a decent release? Because I think he might end up going for Rs 12-13 crore again," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin also predicts Chennai Super Kings may go all out for Shahrukh as they don't have any Tamil Nadu-based players in the squad. And if that means they miss out on someone like Mitchell Starc, they will take that.

"CSK might even take a chance of missing out on Mitchell Starc to get Shahrukh Khan because they don't have a local player or a presence. They went for Shahrukh Khan in the mega auction, and that's why I'm guessing so," the Rajasthan Royals player added.

Shahrukh Khan scored 156 runs for Punjab with a devastating strike rate of 165 last season. The 28-year-old was generally used lower down the order as a finisher by Punjab and it is to be seen where he ends up with next season.
