IPL 2024 Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 17 is set to take place next year in the March to May window, but before that all the ten franchises will have the option to freshen up their squads for the next season via the auction.

This will be a mini-auction, meaning teams will be allowed to retain most of their players from the previous edition and add new faces in whichever area is required. Teams can also opt to release most of the players but are unlikely to find the desired options in a mini-auction.

The teams have the option to announce their retained and released players list, the salary purse, the auction date, and the location. Here is all you need to know about IPL Auction 2024:

When and where is the IPL 2024 Auction taking place?

The IPL Auction 2024, which will be a mini-auction, is set to take place for the first time overseas in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19, 2023). The Coca-Cola Arena will be hosting the auction in the desert city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

When is the last date to announce the retention and released players list for IPL teams?

The teams are allowed until November 26, 2023, to submit the lists of players they are retaining and releasing, after which the auction pool will be finalised probably in early December.

What is the purse for IPL 2024 Auction?

Each team will have a purse of INR 100 crore (USD 12.02 million approximately), a INR 5 crore increase from last season's purse of INR 95 crore, to build their squad for the next season.

Although each team's final purse heading into the auction will depend on the respective team's retention and release of players before the auction.

Several players like Ambati Rayudu have announced their retirement, while many like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Alex Hales among others could be available at the auction for franchises.

Where will the next IPL season be staged?

While the IPL 2024 auction is set to be held in Dubai, the season may still be staged in India despite the Lok Sabha elections also likely to be held during the same period of the Indian Premier League window, according to reports.

IPL 2024 Released And Retained Players

The IPL 2024 transfer deadline has been extended from November 15 to 26. The ten franchises have, therefore, received an extension on finalising the final squad before heading for the auction. They will reveal the list of released and retained players at a later date, most probably November 26.
