IPL 2024 Auction: KKR and RCB set to fight for this New Zealand all-rounder | Not Rachin Ravindra!

With the IPL 2024 auction knocking on the door, it will be a testament for the ten franchises to assemble the perfect combination of the squad which can make a strong bid for the title next season.

The upcoming IPL 2024 season is going to be a pivotal one for all, but especially for two franchises - namely Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kyle Jamieson RCB

RCB haven't ever tasted an IPL championship and KKR's last title came in 2014. With both teams struggling in terms of the trophy cabinet, they will be aiming to form a robust team in the upcoming season.

The World Cup 2023 was a stage where a lot of unearthed talents shone brightly, and one of them was New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra. But there is another fellow Kiwi player who may garner interest from franchises.

For KKR and RCB's quest for a strong unit, a player who may fit the bill is New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson.

The lanky New Zealand all-rounder was released by Chennai Super Kings prior to the auction, but he can be a potent weapon for any team. Jamieson's pace bowling coupled with his hard-hitting batting ability lower down the order makes him a lucrative commodity in the auction table.

KKR and RCB both can make a bid for Jamieson in the upcoming auction, although there may well be competition from other franchises as well.

Why KKR need Kyle Jamieson?

KKR have let go of Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson in the window and they need one overseas backup for Andre Russell. Jamieson can be that player for the Knight Riders. Although he has been mostly a sporadic player in the IPL setup, we may see the best of Jamieson in the Purple of Knights.

Why RCB need Kyle Jamieson?

Royal Challengers Bangalore have also shown the door to many of their overseas all-rounders, and need a replacement for the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga or David Willey.

Jamieson RCB

They roped in Cameron Green in the trading window for a whopping INR 17.5 crore, and Jamieson can again be the perfect backup or replacement for Green. Also, the New Zealand player has prior experience playing for RCB, and that can be a factor as well.

Someone like Jamieson can be a perfect fit in RCB and given his multifaceted ability, the Black Caps player is someone who RCB may keep an eye on.
