IPL 2024 Auction: Three released players on fire in Abu Dhabi T10

With the IPL 2024 auction around the corner, the onus is not on the owners only to find the right player, sometimes the players also have to showcase their might to lure the suitor.

And Abu Dhabi T10 League is lining up to be a perfect audition for the T20 pros for a better salary package in the IPL auction. With the T10 league in full fledge, some of the released IPL players are in scintillating form and thus may attract a lot of suitors in the auction.

The IPL 2024 retention list was announced a couple of weeks ago and many players have found the exit door. Most of the players take part in various franchise tournaments, and thus they have the opportunity to hike their stock ahead of the auction.

And in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10, three players who were released from their IPL franchise this year are doing pretty well and may not have any dearth of bids in the auction.

An underwhelming IPL 2023 season saw Rovman Powell being released by Delhi Capitals, but he is on song for the Delhi Bulls in the Abu Dhabi T10 league. The West Indies all-rounder has racked up 122 runs in the competition and has scored at a strike rate of over 215. The 30-year-old will be up for auction on December 19 and we can expect a bidding war for him.

Former IPL Team: Rajasthan Royals

Abu Dhabi T10 Team: Morrisville Samp Army

Jason Holder's exclusion was a surprising one. The lanky Caribbean all-rounder has always been a utility player and his ability with both bat and ball makes him a decent addition to any squad. Holder is playing superbly for Morrisville Samp Army as he has picked up 7 wickets with the ball in just 4 matches.

Holder has not just been a wicket-taker, but a miser while bowling as he has only gone for 7.5 runs per over amid the demolition of the T10 league. Hence we believe the former West Indies captain may find a new home in the IPL this season.

James Neesham

Former IPL Team: Rajasthan Royals

Abu Dhabi T10 Team: Northern Warriors

James Neesham has never had a settled stint in the IPL. He was part of Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals in the part but never got an extended opportunity in any of the franchises. Rajasthan Royals bought him for INR 1.5 crore in 2022 but he never played a game for them before being released ahead of the 2023 auction.

The Kiwi all-rounder is picking up wickets in the T10 league and is the joint-highest wicket-taker with 7 scalps to his name. With his batting ability and fielding prowess, Neesham can be a good addition to any IPL team.
