IPL 2024 Auction: Why KKR must bid for former RCB and CSK duo - Know the Reason

With the IPL 2024 auction on the horizon, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have their eyes set on building a formidable squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The Knight Riders emptied almost half of their actual roster ahead of the auction and will need to fill that in the coming event. Out of their overseas stars, they have only kept four - Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

KKR

Four of their overseas stars have been offloaded as Tim Southee, Johnson Charles, Litton Das and Lockie Ferguson will have to find a new home in the auction.

KKR will have fill the void of their departing stars and they will grind hard before the auction to find the right balance of their squad. In their overseas department, KKR would ideally want two all-rounders and along with that a batter and a bowler would be perfect for them.

With their decent purse value north of INR 32 crore, KKR can eye some top names, but here are a couple of players who will be valued additions to the KKR setup.

Jason Holder

Jason Holder can be a worthy option for KKR. Holder was released by Rajasthan Royals but can be a valued addition for the Knight Riders. The former Chennai Super Kings player has also played for KKR in the past and we may see him making a return again.

Holder's bowling ability along with his batting down the order make him a commodity worth exploring in the auction. Also, the Caribbean player may come cheap in or around his base price, which will further entice the KKR team management to bring him.

Wanindu Hasaranga

Royal Challengers Bangalore released Wanindu Hasaranga for his hefty price, and KKR can pounce on the elite Sri Lanka all-rounder to bolster their squad. Hasaranga is an excellent bowler and has been a stellar performer in T20 format.

Along with Sunil Narine, Hasaranga can be a major asset for the KKR and may also sort things out for them in the spin department. The Sri Lanka player missed out on World Cup 2023 due to an injury but is set to be part of the IPL, and KKR do have the money to bring him if they want.

The Eden Gardens pitch, which often helps the spinners, can be a formidable abode for the Sri Lankan player and KKR will be the biggest beneficiary if they are able to land the player.
