IPL 2024 Auction: South Africa pace sensation Gerald Coetzee has been roped in by Mumbai Indians (MI) as Jofra Archer's replacement in the IPL 2024. Coetzee will now partner with Jasprit Bumrah and Jason Behrendorff for the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians.
Coetzee, making his entry in the IPL auction for the first time, was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 5 crore. The 23-year-old South African had set himself a base price of Rs 2 crore.

Coetzee garnered major limelight with his stellar run in the World Cup 2023. He finished as the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker, registering 20 scalps at an average of 18.65 and an economy rate of 4.06.
Gerald Coetzee has fast grown cricketing ladders, having already made debut for South Africa across formats. In the two Test matches he has played till date, Coetzee has picked nine wickets. He has picked 31 and six wickets in 14 ODI and four T20I matches respectively.
In a T20 career of 42 matches, Gerald Coetzee has picked 60 wickets at an average of 19.05 and an economy rate of 8.08. He has played a first-class match since the World Cup 2023. He picked five wickets in the match. Coetzee will be seen representing South Africa in the 2-Test series against India starting December 26.
