IPL 2024 Auction: The much-awaited IPL 2024 auction is all set to take place on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. As many as 1166 cricketers registered themselves initially for the auction, however, only 333 could make it to the final list.
Of them, 214 are from India. The list features both capped and uncapped players. Including two from Associate Nations, 119 overseas players will also be up for grab.

In the article let's have a look at Indian players with a base price of Rs 2 crore. A total of 23 players have placed themselves under the highest base price category of Rs 2 crore. Just three Indians feature in the list.
Shardul Thakur: The star India all-rounder was part of India's World Cup 2023 campaign. However, he was released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the auction. The 32-year-old was traded by the two-time champions from Delhi Capitals (DC) for a whopping amount of Rs 10.75 crore.
However, his performance in the last two auctions have been far from impressive. In the IPL 2023, he scored 113 runs in 11 matches at an average of 14.13, and with the ball Shardul Thakur picked seven wickets at an average of 31.43 and an economy rate of 10.48
In the IPL 2022, Shardul Thakur could score 120 runs from 15 matches only. He picked 15 wickets at an average of 31.53 and an economy rate of 10.48. Overall, he has featured in 150 T20 matches and scored at an average of 416 runs, and picked 169 wickets at an average of 25.95.
Harshal Patel: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released Harshal Patel ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. His release increased RCB's purse by Rs 10.75 crore. RCB head coach Grant Flower called Harshal Patel an "excellent performer" and admitted that the release was done to increase the team purse.
However, the right-arm pacer's performance has dropped with each passing year. He picked 32 wickets in IPL 2021 and followed it up with 19 wickets in IPL 2022. However, in the IPL 2023, the Haryana pacer picked 14 wickets only at an average of 32.43.
Overall, the 33-year-old has played a total of 178 T20 matches and picked 209 wickets at an average of 23.88. He has also scored 1235 runs with the bat.
Umesh Yadav: The veteran India pacer was picked by KKR ahead of IPL 2022 at his base price of Rs 2 crore. He spent two seasons with them before the franchise decided to release him. In the eight matches he played in the IPL 2022, he picked one wicket at an average of 189.
The 36-year-old has featured in 186 T20 matches and picked 193 wickets at an average of 27.51.He has two five-wicket-hauls in the tournament.
