IPL 2024 Auction: Pat Cummins on Tuesday became the second most expensive buy in the history of IPL after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) grabbed his services for Rs 20.50 crore. Cummins has raised his stocks as a proven leader and a bowler effective regardless of the pitch conditions.
Sam Curran of England held the record earlier. He was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 18.50 crore in the IPL 2023 auction. PBKS retained him ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Cummins held the record momentarily before Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Mitchell Starc for Rs 24.75 crore.

Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made biddings for the Australia captain. RCB fought with SRH for the Australia's World Cup-winning captain till the very end.
Pat Cummins last played in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2022. Cummins would now be seen bowling with Indian stars Bhuvneshar Kumar, Umran Malik and T Natarajan.
In the recently concluded World Cup 2023, Cummins picked 15 wickets at an average of 34.33 and an economy rate of 5.75. Cummins has also scored a 14-ball fifty in the IPL - the joint second-fastest in the hostory of th IPL. He hit the fifty off just 14 balls against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022.
Cummins is currently leading the Australian team in the ongoing 3-match Test series against Pakistan. He picked three wickets in the first Test which Australia won by 360 runs.
