Gujarat Titans have spent a hefty amount of INR 10 crore on Australian pacer Spencer Johnson in the IPL 2024 auction.
Gujarat Titans were in an intense battle with Delhi Capitals, but ended up getting their man, who became the 6th most expensive buy in the auction.

Spencer Johnson is an Australian bowler who bowls left-arm fast-medium. Born in 1995, the 28-year-old has played for Australia at the international level.
Along with that, Johnson has also played in the BBL with Brisbane Heats, and Adelaide Strikers, and also took part in the MLC for Los Angeles Knight Riders. He has also played for Oval Invincible in the Hundred.
Spencer Johnson has 2 T20I wickets in two matches for Australia. He has a total of 20 first-class wickets in just four matches, and also has picked up 17 wickets in T20 matches.
Johnson made his ODI debut for Australia against India in September this year. So far he has only played 1 ODI and 2 T20Is for Australia.
It was solely due to Gujarat Titans' inability to sign an overseas pacer in the auction. The Titans went for Mitchell Starc but failed to land him. They had a huge amount of money still left along with Delhi Capitals, hence the two franchises went all in for Spencer Johnson. In the end, the Titans won the bidding war.
Spencer Johnson is a highly-rated pacer in Australia and is regarded as the closest to Mitchell Starc. The 28-year-old can be a top prospect for the Titans in the coming seasons and is tipped to be a top buy for them.
