IPL 2024 Auction: Veteran India pacer Umesh Yadav has been roped in by Gujarat Titans for a sum of Rs 5.80 crore. He will reunite with his long-term Test bowling partner Mohammed Shami. Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the two other teams who bid for Umesh Yadav.
Umesh Yadav spent his last two IPL seasons with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he was bought at his base price of Rs 2 crore in IPL 2022 auction. KKR released the 36-year-old after he picked just one wicket in eight IPL 2023 matches.

Umesh Yadav would find the company of not only Shami, but also another veteran India pacer in Mohit Sharma who resurrected his IPL career under Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra last season.
Umesh Yadav, who last played for India in World Test Championship (WTC) final in June, has featured in a total of 186 T20 matches which has seen him pick 193 wickets at an average of 27.51 and an economy rate of 8.28.
In 141 IPL matches, the Vidarbha superstar has picked a total of 136 wickets at an average of 30.2 and an economy rate of 8.43. Umesh's best IPL season came back in 2018 when he picked 20 wickets at an average of 20.90 and an economy rate of 7.86.
