IPL 2024: Bhojpuri Commentators Must be 'Sacked' for using Disgraceful Language during KKR vs SRH Match
The IPL 2024 has started off in its blockbuster way but an off-the-field issue has marred the spread of regional commentary in the tournament.
JioCinema, the digital broadcasters of the tournament are providing commentary across various Indian languages, and amid that, the Bhojpuri section has found itself in deep waters after on-air derogatory comments.

During the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), a piece of commentary disgusted the netizens who demanded a sacking of the Bhojpuri commentator at fault.
During the 19th over of the match, Heinrich Klaasen hit Mitchell Starc for a Six over mid-wicket. While describing the shot, the commentators used such 'offensive language' which irked the Bhojpuri netizens as they vented their disgust on social media.
'What a shame. BCCI and IPL please translate and see the meaning of your commentators from bhojpuri. Utterly disgusting. Kindly remove these morons,' a fan wrote on social media.
'This commentator must be sacked!! IPL is something mostly all family members watch on their dinner table! Such cheap commentary with double meaning lines will take the whole purpose of publicising Bhojpuri down,' a fan had concerns as IPL is really a family event as people of all ages watch it together.
Another fan tagged BCCI secretary Jay Shah and urged for action.
Bhojpuri commentary came into the IPL last year as JioCinema introduced it. The witty way of commentating along with its dialect became instantly popular last year, but the latest controversy is unfortunate and the guilty party mustn't go unpunished.
Given the platform IPL is, describing a cricket shot in a vulgar manner is not expected. Although it is to be seen how BCCI and the IPL governing body react to it, the commentators must utter their words with care.
