The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season will stat with the league stage of the tournament, which is scheduled to run from 22 March 2024 to the third week of May.
Like in the previous two editions, ten teams will battle in double round-robin home and away format in the league stage with the top four teams heading into the playoffs - Eliminator, two Qualifiers and the Final.

Due to the elections in the country, a two-week schedule was announced last month. During the two-week period, 21 matches will be played across 10 cities, with each team playing a minimum of three matches and a maximum of five.
A total of 74 matches will be played across several venues with the remainder of the schedule, including the Eliminator, Qualifier and finals, to be announced in the coming days.
All the ten teams had finalized their squads during the IPL Auction 2024 in December 2023, but some were hit by injury and withdrawals. Most teams have also named their skipper and head coaches for the season.
Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad will have new faces leading their teams, while in a shock announcement Chennai Super Kings also will be led by a new player from this season.
A day before the IPL 2024 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed over the CSK captaincy to rising star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad as the franchise look to build for the future.
Following Hardik Pandya's trade to MI, GT named Shubman Gill as the skipper for the upcoming season with the former Titans skipper replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians.
Pat Cummins, the most expensive player in IPL history, was on Monday (March 4) announced as the skipper of SRH, replacing Aiden Markram, who served one season in the role at the Hyderabad-based franchise.
Delhi Capitals, who were led by David Warner last season, will welcome back skipper Rishabh Pant. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has been passed fit and will make his return in the captaincy role again this year.
RCB and Rajasthan Royals will be led by the captain from last season, while Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders will welcome back their regular skippers.
Like the captains, most franchises have also announced their coaching and backroom staff for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. LSG, SRH and RCB will have new think-tanks. Here is a look at the IPL 2024 teams, captains and coaches of all 10 teams:
