Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (April 28) created a major record in T20 cricket as they posted 212 for three in their latest IPL 2024 match against southern rivals Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

With their yet another 200-plus total in the premier domestic T20 competition, CSK find themselves sitting at the top of an elite group, boasting an impressive tally of 35 such totals.

The list of teams with the most 200-plus totals in T20 cricket reflects a combination of consistent batting firepower and a knack for producing high-scoring encounters.

CSK's dominance in this aspect underscores their reputation as one of the most formidable batting lineups in T20 cricket. With a blend of experienced campaigners and explosive young talent, CSK has consistently delivered imposing totals, making them a force to be reckoned with in the shortest format of the game.

Following closely behind CSK is English county side Somerset, with 34 200-plus totals to their name. Known for their aggressive brand of cricket and penchant for big hits, Somerset has established itself as a powerhouse in T20 cricket.

Team India find themselves at the third spot in this table as the Men in Blue have posted in excess of 200-plus on 32 occasions, the most by any team in international cricket. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (31), Yorkshire (29) and Surrey (28) are the other three in top five.

Earlier in the match, CSK delivered a resounding performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) showdown, clinching a decisive victory by 78 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, April 28th.

Led by Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad's aggressive 98-run inning, CSK set a formidable target of 213 runs after being invited to bat first. Gaikwad's dynamic 54-ball knock, complemented by Daryl Mitchell's crucial 52 runs off 32 balls and Shivam Dube's rapid 39 not out off 20 balls, propelled CSK to an imposing total of 212 for three.

In response, SRH faltered under the pressure of CSK's clinical bowling attack, led by pacer Tushar Deshpande's exceptional performance with figures of 4/27 in 3 overs. SRH's cautious batting approach backfired as they struggled to recover from Deshpande's early three-wicket burst and the subsequent middle-overs squeeze. Ultimately, SRH was bowled out for 134 runs in 18.5 overs, as CSK ended their two-game losing streak.

With this victory, CSK climbed to the third position in the IPL standings, tying with Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals at 10 points each. Meanwhile, SRH slipped to the fourth position after suffering their fourth loss of the season.
