CSK handed big blow as new signing suffers Fresh Injury ahead of IPL 2024

The 17th season of IPL is now less than a month away as the juggernaut starts from March 22.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will be up against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the IPL 2024.

Ahead of this huge season for CSK, which may well be defining because of the potential retirement of MS Dhoni, they have been dealt with a big blow.

Rachin Ravindra, one of CSK's new signings, have suffered an injury and has been ruled out for New Zealand in their T20I match against Australia.

Ravindra was roped in by the Super Kings in the IPL 2024 auction for Rs 1.8 crore and is expected to play a big part for them. The Kiwi all-rounder had a stellar World Cup 2023 and has emerged as one of the top talents in recent times.

But the southpaw has a knee issue and is left out of the New Zealand squad against Australia. Ravindra had a left knee pain in the last match and that has aggravated, which means he won't be in action.

"Rachin Ravindra will miss tonight's 2nd KFC T20I at Eden Park after experiencing pain in his left knee following the first game in Wellington. He will be treated and monitored over the coming days before a decision is made on his availability for the third T20I," a release from BlackCaps wrote on social media.

The 24-year-old has played 20 T20Is for the Kiwis, and has amassed 214 runs at a strike rate of 133. He has also picked up 11 wickets with his left-arm orthodox spin and has a miserly economy rate of 6.68 in the shortest international format of the game.

Ravindra's injury can be a potential blow for Chennai Super Kings if the injury is serious for Ravindra. Although initially, the expectations are that his injury is minimal and the player may recover to full fitness within a week, any complication can jeopardize his participation in IPL 2024.
