IPL 2024, CSK vs KKR: Decibel Level Numbers Not A Joke As Russell Blocks Noise On Dhoni's Arrival

Kolkata Knight Riders star all-rounder Andre Russell was on Monday (April 8) seen blocking his ears as the crowd erupted when Chennai Super Kings legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni walked out to bat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The decibel levels have been higher than the aircraft noise in most matches CSK has played since last season whether it is at the home venue or any other stadium across the country. And the reason for that is only one man - MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni effect felt by KKR s Shreyas Iyer and Andre Russell

The noise levels recorded at games in which Dhoni has played has always been a notch above the rest with decibels recorded at over 125db on most occasions. Opposition players have also revealed that the crowd go crazy when he walks out to bat or executes a dismissal with the gloves.

On Monday (April 8), it was no different as the Chepauk crowd poured in the whistles as Dhoni walked out to bat despite the game already in the bag for CSK. The crowd's support at Chepauk forced Russell to cover his ears to shield himself from the deafening noise caused by Dhoni's entrance.

The sight of Russell covering his ears quickly went viral, capturing the attention of the internet as some fans said be here to experience it for real as the decibel level numbers are not simple.

"All these decibel level they show are not simple numbers, you gotta be really present there to fkng feel it. Russell felt it," one fan posted on X with the clip that got viral after the match which saw CSK beat KKR by 7 wickets.

"35000 spectators on their feet for one man! With perfect Rajinikanth song entry !! Hukummmmm!! Trust me atleast watch it once in stadium...!! Greatest player of this ERA Dhoni," another fan posted as Dhoni walked out to Superstar-starred Jailer track played at the venue.

Even KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer spoke about the noise level of the crowd after the match, "It's deafening out here, but I'll try to express," he continued giving his post-match interview.

Coming back to the match, Dhoni joined skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad in the middle with CSK needing three runs to victory at the fall of Shivam Dube's wicket. Gaikwad played a captain's knock of 67 to see the team home with Dhoni.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja had starred with the ball to help CSK restrict an in-form KKR to a paltry 137/9. Jadeja produced match-winning figures of 3 for 18 in his 4 overs.
