Rajasthan Royals team director Kumar Sangakkara has opened up on the controversial dismissal of Sanju Samson in the defeat to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 match 56 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday (May 7).
Samson, who had put his side in control of the chase with 86, was declared out after Shai Hope had pouched the ball in the deep very close to the boundary cushioning and the decision was sent up for a review to the TV umpire, who also felt the catch was clean.

Samson and Royals were unhappy with the decision after a few camera angles showed Hope touching the ropes with his foot. But Sangakkara said at the end of the one has to accept the decision of the umpire.
"It depends on replays and angles. Sometimes, you think the foot has touched. It was a difficult one for the third umpire to judge; the game was at a crucial stage, but it happened," Sangakkara told at the post-match press conference.
"We have different perspectives, but at the end of the day, you have to stand by the decision the third umpire has made, even if we have a different opinion on it."
While the former Sri Lanka skipper said Royals will share those footages with the umpires to seek more clarity, he credited Delhi Capitals for how they bowled in the backend of the innings to turn the match around.
"Of course, we will share it with the umpires, but I thought, irrespective of that, we should've seen the game home. Delhi played well. They were really smart with their bowling in the backend," Sangakkara added.
Sangakkara, who added the players and umpires are both under pressure, said they will follow protocol and share their opinions with the unpire it to sort it out in the best way possible.
"Just asking what the procedure was and whether there was any doubt. The on-field umpire will have to go by what the TV umpire says. Players have to abide by it," Sangakkara said.
"And there are means of conveying your opinion through direct conversation or the umpire's report. We follow protocol; there is a lot of pressure on players and umpires. We try to sort it in the best way we can."
