By MyKhel Staff

The entire Mumbai Indians (MI) team, including the Impact Player, were reprimanded for a second time offence during the 4-wicket loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday (April 30).

MI captain Hardik Pandya has been fined Rs 24 lakh after his team's second slow over-rate offence, while all the other players were each individually fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

Mumbai Indians fined for slow over rate during IPL 2024 clash against Lucknow Super Giants

"Mr Hardik Pandya, Captain, Mumbai Indians has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 48 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants on April 30, 2024," the IPL said in a statement.

"As it was his team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 24 Lac.

"The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 Lac or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," it added.

Earlier, Pandya was fined for slow over rate during MI's victory over Punjab Kings at the New PCA Stadium on April 18. There have been several other players and member of the coaching staff from MI also being punished for breaching IPL's Code of Conduct of the season.

As for the match against LSG, Mumbai Indians' top-order collapsed in the powerplay as contributions from Nehal Wadhera (46 off 41), Ishan Kishan (32 off 36) and Tim David (35* off 18) took them to a below-par 144 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

In the run chase, Marcus Stoinis scored a 45-ball 62, studded with seven hits to the fence and two maximums but once he was gone LSG survived some anxious moments before getting home with four balls to spare.

With their sixth win in 10 games, LSG climbed to the third spot in the IPL standings. MI, on the other hand, slumped to their seventh loss in 10 games and remained in the ninth spot only due to their better net run rate (NRR) compared to bottom-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
