IPL 2024 Fact Check: Kwena Maphaka is to leave Mumbai Indians for Class 10 Exams?
Mumbai Indians youngster Kwena Maphaka hasn't had the best start to his IPL 2024 journey.
The young bowler was signed by the Paltans as a replacement for Jason Behrendorff. But he has had a tough outing in his first two IPL appearances.

The 18-year-old was roped in after his heroics in the U19 World Cup for South Africa. He picked up 21 wickets in just six matches as South Africa reached the semifinals. He also had a decent outing with Paarl Royals in the SA20, but IPL has been a reality check for him.
Kwena Maphaka played his first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and he was dismantled all across the ground by the SRH batters. Baptism of Fire struck Maphaka hard as the youngster conceded 66 runs in his four overs and was taken to the cleaners. In his second match against Rajasthan Royals, Maphaka conceded 23 runs in two overs and got a wicket.
Kwena Maphaka won't take part in IPL for Board Exams?
He didn't play in the last match against Delhi Capitals, and the speculation arose that the South African won't take part in IPL anymore for his board exams. The teenage bowler is supposed to be studying in school and social media has gone viral with Maphaka's exam rumour.
There was news of Maphaka's examinations and fans on social media thought it was true that the MI teenager was set to leave IPL midway and return to his country.
Fact Check: Kwena Maphaka is staying with Mumbai Indians
Kwena Maphaka by no means has any academic exam and is not going to miss the IPL season with Mumbai Indians. The young South African bowler has had a difficult start, but he is going to stay with the team till the end of this season. The 18-year-old bowler is currently with MI and we can consider it as a fake rumour on social media.
Maphaka also turned 18 a couple of days ago (April 8) and Mumbai Indians players celebrated his birthday and they also wished him on social media.
The chances may be sporadic for Mafaka in this season, but it is a learning curve for the youngster. It is not the end of the journey, but a new mould which will make him stronger. The youngster has shown his class and immense confidence in patches and is only going to get stronger and better from here. All in all, Maphaka is not going anywhere and he is a prospect for the Mumbai Indians.
