A rumoured statement from Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta has been circulating on social media which has brought the dynamics between team owner and captain Shikhar Dhawan under the spotlight.
As per the alleged statement, Preity Zinta spoke on air about signing India star Rohit Sharma in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The former Mumbai Indians captain is tipped to make a move away from MI next season, and there are many franchises already lined up for his signature.

Reports claim the likes of Lucknow Super Giants, and Gujarat Titans are in the race if Rohit leaves MI, and Punjab Kings are also supposedly in the reckoning.
After Punjab Kings' defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad, PBKS owner Preity Zinta came to Star Sports for a post-match chat with Harbhajan Singh. And Zinta's rumoured comments on betting her life to sign Rohit Sharma fuelled the speculations.
"I will bet my life to get Rohit Sharma if he comes in the mega auction. We are only missing a captain in our team who brings on some stability and champion mindset," Preity Zinta was quoted as saying by some media outlets while speaking on Star Sports.
The Punjab franchise didn't make the best of starts and further escalated the rumour that the PBKS owner was ready to discard Shikhar Dhawan from the franchise next season.
myKhel can confirm that the PBKS owner never uttered any word such as betting her life for Rohit Sharma or indirectly bashing current captain Shikhar Dhawan. It was a complete hoax and a few unchecked media reports thus escalated the baseless and false matter.
PBKS official informed myKhel, "This is a false story. It was a fake tweet that led to this story."
"We can share with you the whole post-match interview with Star Sports from the last match where she never said anything related to Rohit," the source added further.
Although Rohit Sharma's situation at the Mumbai Indians remains a matter of debate, it is safe to say that only MI's IPL 2025 retention list will clarify the matter.
